About the School
Nørre Gymnasium is more than just a place to go to school. It is a community where you can grow, explore new ideas and find your own path.
Welcome to Nørre Gymnasium & IB World School
Nørre G is an exciting and international upper secondary school with high academic ambitions and a strong sense of community. The school offers both the Danish STX programme and the international Pre-IB and IB programmes.
As a Pre-IB or IB student, you become part of a large and diverse school environment where you meet students with different backgrounds, perspectives and interests. At the same time, you benefit from all the opportunities that come with attending one of Denmark’s largest upper secondary schools, both academically and socially.
Pre-IB and IB
At Nørre Gymnasium, you can begin with our one year Pre-IB programme after Year 9 or Year 10. Teaching is in English and prepares you academically and personally for the IB Diploma Programme.
The IB is an internationally recognised upper secondary education taught in English. Within the framework of the IB Diploma Programme, you choose your own combination of subjects and work both in depth and across disciplines. You are encouraged to think independently, explore complex issues and view the world from different perspectives.
Learning with an International Outlook
At Pre-IB and IB, learning extends beyond the classroom. We place strong emphasis on academic curiosity, independence and an international outlook, and teaching draws on current issues as well as the world around us.
As part of Nørre Gymnasium, you also have access to modern facilities and a broad academic environment. We collaborate with organisations including the University of Copenhagen, DTU, Designmuseum Danmark, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, the Glyptotek and Novo.
An International Community
The international dimension is a natural part of everyday life at Nørre G. In Pre-IB and IB, you study alongside students with different linguistic, cultural and academic backgrounds, with English as the common language of instruction.
This creates an environment where different perspectives meet and where students learn both with and from each other. Pre-IB and IB are fully integrated into the wider Nørre G community, so you also become part of a large school with students across both the international and Danish programmes.
An Active Life Beyond the Classroom
Life at Nørre G is about more than academics. You can take part in activities such as music theater, choir, showband, sports, dance, drama, talent programmes and many student activities.
Students also play an active role in shaping school life through the Student Council, Operation Dagsværk, the Party Committee, the Café Committee and a wide range of other groups and initiatives. This gives you plenty of opportunities to meet students across classes, year groups and programmes.
The Nørre G Spirit
We place great importance on preserving the special Nørre G spirit. There should be room for everyone, and everyone should feel part of the community.
This also applies to our international students. Whether you come from Denmark or another country, Nørre G should be a place where you quickly feel at home, get to know new people and have the opportunity to develop both academically and personally.
Take a look around the website and learn more about Pre-IB and IB. You are also very welcome to visit the school and talk to our students about what it is like to be a Pre-IB or IB student at Nørre G.
Welcome!

Your student counsellor
Helps you choose your IB subjects, apply for SU (the Danish student grant) and build good study habits and study skills from the start. All new Pre-IB and IB students have an individual meeting, and afterwards you can always book a time if something is troubling you, academically or socially, at school or at home. That also goes for absence, stress or exam anxiety. If you need more support, your counsellor can refer you on, for example to a psychologist. And when it is time to think about life after the IB, our Higher Education Advisor helps you apply to universities abroad, while Studievalg Danmark visits the school to guide you on further education in Denmark.
Your reading counsellors
If reading or writing takes more effort than it should, you can get help from our reading counsellors, so that no one has to struggle in silence. If you are dyslexic, or if reading and writing difficulties arise along the way, you get assistive tools such as IntoWords and audiobooks from Nota, short courses in how to use them, study support sessions and the option of extra time and other access arrangements for exams.
In short: You don't need to have everything figured out on the day you start. It's our job to help you get there.
Study trip
Out into the world
At Nørre G, learning does not stop at the school walls. In 2i, the first year of the IB Diploma Programme, you go on a study trip where subjects, culture and community travel with you out into the world. Depending on your subjects, you may also have the chance to go on an exchange or an extra language stay in cities such as Paris, Hamburg, Brussels, Strasbourg, Málaga and Madrid. Here you put what you have learned to use, meet new people and gain experiences you will remember long after you graduate.
